Syntactic Foams

Syntactic foams are composed of light-weight hollow particles (such as hollow glass microspheres and composite hollow macrospheres) and polymer binders. They have a microscopically porous structure with a controlled amount of closed-cell voids, which offers the attractive properties such as low density, high strength, low water absorption and excellent corrosion resistance. They are widely used as deep-water buoyancy materials in various applications, and can be molded or machined to any desired shape.

CBM has a state-of-the-art syntactic foam manufacturing facility with an annual throughput of more than 5,000 m3 of the foam. CBM offers a wide selection of different grades of pure and composite syntactic foams. Custom grades and unique features are available upon request.
